·         1 in 10 residents of the Lehigh Valley are now living in poverty. In Allentown, it is 3 in 10.

·         In Lehigh County, the unemployment rate increased by 57%, from 5.6% in 2008 to 8.8% in 2009. In Northampton County, the unemployment rate increased by 63%, from 5.2% in 2008 to 8.5% in 2009.

·         A head of household making minimum wage would need 2.3 full-time jobs to afford a 2-bedroom apartment in the Lehigh Valley.
